Kristen E. Hudson concentrates her practice in complex commercial litigation and insurance issues both as coverage and monitoring counsel on behalf of commercial insurers. Licensed in Illinois, Texas, and in federal courts and arbitral forums across the U.S., she manages risk and handles complex commercial litigation in a variety of substantive legal areas, including contract disputes, business torts, fraud and the protection of trade secrets, privacy, and intellectual property rights. Kristen has extensive experience in lawyer professional liability, having served as general counsel of a mid-size firm. Kristen works with a variety of commercial insurance products, including directors’ and officers’ liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, commercial general liability, and cyber liability policies.

Kristen is recognized as a leader in the legal community. In 2019 she was chosen as a Crain’s Chicago Business “Notable Gen X Leaders in Law,” which is a select group of accomplished attorneys between the ages of 40 and 55 who hold senior leadership positions within the firm, serve as role models or mentors to other attorneys and are leaders outside of their law firms in professional organizations and community service initiatives.

She was also elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and the welfare of their communities. In 2018, she was named as a Crain’s “Notable Women Lawyer,” and she received the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law’s Inspiration Award. Super Lawyers Magazine identified her as a Top 50 Women Lawyers in Illinois in 2020 and 2017 and a Top 100 Lawyer in Illinois in 2020. She received the CBA Alliance for Women 2016 Alta May Hulett Award, which is awarded to females who have significantly contributed to the advancement of women in the legal profession and whose careers exemplify the highest level of professional achievement, ethics, and excellence. And in 2014 was named one of 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch by Law Bulletin Media.

Kristen is an adjunct professor at UIC John Marshall Law School where she teaches Counseling and Negotiation, International Dispute Resolution, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She is also co-coach of the school’s award-winning William C. Vis International Moot Arbitration team. She serves on the Advisory Board of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, a not-for-profit providing free legal services to Chicagoland’s working poor.
