New child assistance program looks to keep toddlers at home

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a measure Tuesday aimed at stabilizing families and providing additional services to people whose children are considered at-risk of entering the child welfare system.The program, which takes effect Feb. 14, 2019, provides families who have an open intact family services case with the Department of Children and Family Services with help under the Department of Human Services’ child care assistance program.Rauner signed House Bill 4885.The joint agency services, or the …
