Cook County, Evans reach $11M budget deal

The Chief Judge’s Office for the Circuit Court of Cook County will receive an additional $11.1 million for its budget under a settlement reached today.The deal ends a roughly eight-month battle between Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle over how much additional funding Evans should receive for the court system.Evans filed a lawsuit after the Cook County budget was announced in November, petitioning the court to enforce an administrative order he put in place to stop layoffs …
