As deadline passes, migrant children remain in Chicago

Despite Tuesday’s court-ordered deadline to return children younger than 5 taken at the southern border, four children are still detained in the Chicago area as of this morning, according to the National Immigrant Justice Center.Three migrant children under the age of 5 who were held in Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement custody in or near Chicago have been reunited with their parents, said Lisa Koop, the NIJC’s associate director of legal services.Of the 75 children …
