Those who want to restrict free speech are on the march, but the oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court last week in Gonzalez v. Google, LLC, No. 21-1333, and Twitter, Inc. v. Taamneh, No. 21-1496, give some hope that the core value of our civilization and an essential feature of our politics, culture and society can hold its own against constant, sustained and powerful assault on free speech.
