State high court sets time standards for cases in trial courts

The Illinois Supreme Court announced Friday it will establish time standards for case closures in trial courts statewide for the first time. The standards are effective July 1 for cases filed on or after the first of the year. The order is intended to ensure Illinois circuit courts meet their “fundamental obligation to resolve disputes fully, fairly, and promptly,” according to a news release.
