City’s effort to see litigation funding request nixed

A federal judge quashed a subpoena seeking documents concerning an ex-inmate’s successful bid to secure funding for his lawsuit against the city of Chicago.In a written opinion last week, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sunil R. Harjani held the city is not entitled to see documents Derrell Fulton submitted to Momentum Funding LLC in seeking litigation funds.The documents are not relevant to Fulton’s allegations that police fabricated evidence and coerced him into falsely confessing to a rape and murder, Harjani wrote …
