'Open and obvious' doctrine defeats Menards injury suit

A man who tripped over a sign at a Menards store does not have a personal-injury claim against the home improvement chain, a federal appeals court ruled.The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday declined to revive the lawsuit Robert McCarty filed against Menard Inc. after he was injured at its store in far north suburban Antioch.Citing Pitrowski v.
