Judge rejects agent claim in truck driver negligence suit

The owners of a trailer involved in a 2014 crash are not liable for the incident because the truck driver was an independent contractor, a federal judge held.Marina and Lidia Kolchinsky filed a lawsuit in 2015 against truck driver William Bentley, Colorado-based Bill Bentley Trucking LLC, Missouri-based Western Dairy Transport LLC and WD Logistics LLC for negligence, seeking damages for their injuries.The case was filed in federal court based on diversity of citizenship.On the day of the crash, Bentley was driving a truck …
