It hasn't taken Daniel Storino long to build a reputation as one of the city's top antitrust and healthcare litigators. Why? Storino consistently earns top results for his clients.

Here's an example: Storino successfully represented one of the world's largest chemical companies in a multi-district antitrust lawsuit that alleged more than $1 billion in damages. This complex case involved both an investigation by the Department of Justice and civil lawsuits.

During the litigation, which lasted seven years, Storino obtained a steady stream of victories. First, the Department of Justice closed its investigation without bringing any charges or issuing any fines against Storino's client. Secondly, Storino led a strategy that ultimately resulted in a favorable outcome for his client in the civil lawsuits.

One important victory in this case? Storino successfully argued to obtain significant discovery into the plaintiffs' own businesses. He then uncovered that the plaintiffs themselves were engaged in a price-fixing conspiracy. Armed with this evidence, Storino negotiated a favorable settlement for his client.

Illinois attorney Michael Durkin said that Storino not only saw an opportunity to vigorously fight for his client, he took full advantage of it.

"Realizing that turnabout was fair play, Dan flipped the script on the plaintiffs and sought discovery about whether the plaintiffs had ever attended dinners or meetings with their own competitors," Durkin said. "The plaintiffs fought the discovery tooth and nail, but the court agreed with Dan, awarding him thousands of documents and over 40 depositions into the plaintiffs' businesses."

Storino also earned a complete victory for his client in the Online Travel Company Hotel Booking Antitrust Litigation. This case involved antitrust claims brought against the country's largest hotel chains and online travel agents.

Storino played a key role in debunking the plaintiffs' legal claims and obtained a full dismissal of the action.

Storino has also represented health insurers, including one of the largest insurers in the country, and healthcare providers in a variety of antitrust, tax, and contract disputes pending in state court, federal court, and arbitration. In one recent matter, Storino was critical in obtaining a judgment that resulted in just 1 percent of the damages that were being sought from his client. Storino, too, has experience with commercial litigation and obtained a judgment worth more than $150 million for a global investment firm in a case in which the arbitrator ruled in his client's favor on all claims.

Reginald McKnight, head of U.S. Economic Development Policy for Facebook, has worked with plenty of attorneys. Storino, though, stands out.

"Dan is truly a 'lawyer's lawyer,'" McKnight said. "His devotion is to the legal system itself. His exceptional lawyering skills and successful results show that he rises to the highest aspirations of the legal profession."

Outside of the courtroom, Storino is on the Advisory Council of the John Howard Association, a non-profit that monitors Illinois prisons and fights for a more humane and effective criminal justice system in Illinois.
