SPRINGFIELD — The Equal Rights Amendment is one state shy of the two-thirds threshold needed to add it to the U.S. Constitution after Illinois lawmakers voted to ratify it this week.The House approved the ERA joint resolution Wednesday, 36 years after the initial deadline for ratification was set by Congress.
