1964A Dallas jury found Jack Ruby guilty of the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who assassinated President John Kennedy. Ruby, a Dallas nightclub owner, shot Oswald two days after the Kennedy assassination while Oswald was in police custody. Ruby was sentenced to death, but, on appeal, was granted a new trial.
