In online tax bill, lawmakers look to South Dakota

SPRINGFIELD — State lawmakers are looking to expand taxes on online retailers.The state’s Senate has advanced a measure to tax businesses with annual sales of $100,000 or more to purchasers in the Prairie State.Senate Bill 2577, sponsored by Sen. Cristina Castro, an Elgin Democrat, would also impose the state’s 6.25 percent use tax and service use tax on businesses that enter into 200 or more separate transactions in Illinois per year.The bill, approved by the Senate’s Revenue Committee last week …
